Generic queer fantasy slop. Except it's kind of not queer at all, aside from the two characters being women. Like it doesn't seem to matter at all to the story or the world that they're lesbians. In fact, for the first 30-or-so pages the book doesn't gender the first-person protagonist at all, and I thought that might be an interesting thing it was doing deliberately. But no, it simply doesn't come up, because the book doesn't actually care about the genders of its characters.
