* shell: Enable automake silent rulesAntonio Ospite2018-12-14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Enable automake silent rules to make it easier to spot compilation problems. Silent rules will be enabled by default, but only if they are available, in order to keep compatibility with older autotools versions. Prepend the silent strings also to custom rules. * shell: Don't include config.h for native helpersPeter Korsgaard2018-08-29
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | config.h contains settings for the cross compiler (most importantly 32/64bit versions of functions), so don't include it when calling the native compiler to build the helpers. Otherwise we get build errors like: /usr/bin/gcc -include ../config.h -DBSD=1 -DSHELL -DIFS_BROKEN -g -O2 -Wall -o mkinit mkinit.c In file included from /usr/include/sys/stat.h:107, from /usr/include/fcntl.h:38, from mkinit.c:50: /usr/include/bits/stat.h:117: error: redefinition of ‘struct stat’ In file included from /usr/include/fcntl.h:38, from mkinit.c:50: /usr/include/sys/stat.h:504: error: redefinition of ‘stat’ /usr/include/sys/stat.h:455: note: previous definition of ‘stat’ was here Signed-off-by: Peter Korsgaard <peter@korsgaard.com> [baruch: apply to Makefile.am; update Peter's email address] Signed-off-by: Baruch Siach <baruch@tkos.co.il> Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au>
* var: Set IFS to fixed value at start timeHerbert Xu2018-05-28
| | | | | | | | | This patch forces the IFS variable to always be set to its default value, regardless of the environment. It also removes the long unused IFS_BROKEN code. Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au>
* shell: Fix build on Solaris 9Jonathan Perkin2016-06-06
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Ensure dash can build in a default Solaris 9 or older environment: - Execute scripts with $SHELL rather than /bin/sh, the latter does not support e.g. "if ! .." used by mkbuiltins. - /bin/awk does not support ?: syntax, use explicit statements instead. - /bin/nl requires no spaces between options and arguments. * input: Remove HETIOHerbert Xu2015-01-05
| | | | | | | It hasn't been possible to build HETIO for over ten years. So let's just kill it. Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au>
* [SHELL] Optimize dash -c "command" to avoid a forkHerbert Xu2011-07-07

In either case, we always have to read ahead in order to complete the parsing of the previous node. Therefore we always know whether there is more to come, except in the case where we see a newline/semicolon or similar. For the purposes of sh -c, this should be sufficient. * [BUILD] Add arith_yacc.h to dash_SOURCESHerbert Xu2009-01-14
| | | | | | | The file arith_yacc.h was missing from dash_SOURCES causing it to be excluded from the generated tar file. Signed-off-by: Herbert Xu <herbert@gondor.apana.org.au>
* [EXPAND] Added configure --enable-glob and --enable-fnmatch optionsHerbert Xu2007-10-20
| | | | | | | | Debian's libc6 as of 2.6.1-6 has working glob(3)/fnmatch(3) support. This patch adds the options --enable-glob and --enable-fnmatch to the configure script. By default glob(3) and fnmatch(3) are still unused. However, on distros where the glibc is known to work you may enable these options.
* [ARITH] Add assignment and intmax_t supportHerbert Xu2007-10-11
| | | | | This patch adds assignment operator support in arithmetic expansions. It also changes the type used to intmax_t.
* [BUILD] Added --with-libedit option to configureAlexey Gladkov2006-05-23
| | | | | Add to the configure.ac new option: --with-libedit - Compile with libedit support.
* [BUILTIN] Disable ulimit if there is no getrlimitHerbert Xu2005-10-29
| | | | | | | | | | For systems without getrlimit (e.g., klibc) we will disable ulimit. In order to achieve this, builtins.def is now produced by cpp which allows us to use macros such as HAVE_GETRLIMIT in it. Thie also means that we can get rid of the cflags parsing code in mkbuiltins.
* Copyright/licence updates and remove all traces of sys/cdefs.hHerbert Xu2005-10-29
| | | | | | | | | | | This change updates the BSD licence to the three-clause version since NetBSD has already done so. This makes dash GPL-compatible. It also adds Christos Zoulas (NetBSD ash maintainer) to the COPYING file. I've added "copyright by Herbert Xu" to most files. Finally all CVS IDs and inclusion of sys/cdefs.h have been removed. The latter is needed for support of klibc.
